This introductory lecture gives an overview of the course. In particular, the main aim of the course is presented along with the main expected outcomes and the goal students are expected to reach, the developed skills and the evaluation criteria. This lecture presents also the importance of Geospatial Data and their fruitful exploitation in different thematic areas. In particular, some research projects carrier out by the GIcarus (DABC) and the Maudlab (DASTU) are presented.
